SONG EIGHT "Winds of Change"

(David plucks a Rose and makes a promise to Hope)
"I tell you my fair maiden...
we shall plant them in the sky!"
(The wind stirs. David tosses the Rose high into the air. To the children's amazement the rose is taken up and hangs as if floating in mid air. Thunder claps, rain comes down along with the Rose and Jesse & Hope scatter with laughter towards their homes. David attempts to grab the Rose but is frightened by a large thunder clap and runs home leaving the "miracle rose" behind)

When my vision runs free
through the heavens above me
And the worlds I see
stand before my eyes
In the lands where I'm free
there's one chain that still binds me...
the echoes of the sound
Echoes of the sound ,
of you and I..
The perfect day to begin construction of their plans, the three organize, and building begins.
David and Jessie notice that Hope has wandered off and wishes to plant a flower garden instead of sticking to the original treehouse plan. They confront her and ask if she would rather plant her flowers way up in the clouds instead of in the dirt. They point out that one of the clouds looks like "the biggest rose they have ever seen". The boys try to persuade her but to no avail. Hope wants to plant "real flowers" not "cloud flowers". The boys decide to build and leave Hope to her garden.
Heading back to Old Sam David finds a Rose growing amidst the tall grass. He plucks it making a promise to hope and then tosses it into the air. It is taken by a gust of wind and hangs in the sky. To David this is proof that their plan is possible. A sign. A sign of assurance.
